| Bondage by Atau Tanaka Interactive Sound and Image Installation 2004, Le Fresnoy, Lille, France 2004, La Villette Numerique 2004, Paris, France 2005, Eyebeam Gallery, New York, New York I worked with multimedia artist Atau Tanaka to realize his idea for an interactive installation for La Villette Numerique 2004. The installation consists of an interactive image projected on a large japanese-rice-paper-window-like structture. Using a video camera to analyze the movements of people as they walked through the installation, parts of a polemic photo by Nobuyoshi Araki are reveaed. Also, the image is treated as data for generating sound (a la Metasynth). I made the Max/MSP/Jitter patch that ran the installation; it involved a number of real-time Metasynth modules, with control data coming in from video analysis. For more information, see Atau's page on Bondage, or the Fresnoy Webpage (has a video), the ICI page, the Eyebeam page, or the listing among 2005 Ars Electronica's honorary mentions |
